In the women's event it was a heated match between American Samoa and Samoa at JS Blatter Football Complex with both teams playing hard and fighting for goals.

There was a valiant effort on both sides. Both teams having many close saves and coming close to scoring a goal, the score remained 0-0 until the end.

Fans from both teams watched eagerly hoping every shot would result in a goal with hopes high for both fans and players.

"They played their best," said Samoa's coach, Nicola Demaine. "There was some different problems to solve out there that we haven't come up against before.
"And just you know how ever much we tried today we just couldn't get a goal.  Today just wasn't meant to be. But we still have control over our own destiny, so looking to win the rest of our games and see if we can finish at the top."


American Samoa's coach was very emotional after the match.

"My girls, they gave 110%. They did really well, made me proud. We are looking forward to our match with New Caledonia, do the same thing that we did today, but go harder with them."

JS Blatter Football Complex

In Men's Football Samoa took on New Zealand, today.

Samoa put up a good fight and the stands were packed with fans from both countries, cheering loud and hard as New Zealand scored 5 goals, though the Samoan defence fought hard.

With only a short time left in the game Samoa scored a goal and the local fans went wild with excitement. 

The Samoan team were pleased with the result thanking God for helping them in a tough game.

The target was to score and they did, so and it "felt like winning the World Cup!"

It was the first time the senior national team had scored against New Zealand and so i twas a very happy moment for them. 

"Especially 5-1...good, great effort from us. Because we normally get beaten bad but this is 5-1! A big improvement from us from every year to now so we're super proud of ourselves. We are going to analyze the game from today and see our weaknesses and some of our mistakes and work on it for tomorrow."

The New Zealand team was happy with their performance, managing the game in spite of the heat and a physical Samoan team and sticking with their game plan.
