Local firm partners with Pacific Games for accreditation
Technology skills from a Samoan company have been used to process accreditation ahead of the Samoa 2019 XVI Pacific Games in the form of local company SkyEye.
“We are grateful to the Pacific Games for believing in a local company that we can build something like this and to partner with us when it comes to technology,” said Chief Executive Officer of SkyEye, Fa'aso'otauloa Sam Saili.
SkyEye Samoa was officially announced the ‘Accreditation Partner of the Games’ in March. Accreditation involves collating all participants' details, including roles and venue access, and then issuing individual accreditation cards. It covers thousands of people - athletes, officials, staff and volunteers.
“We are proud that we can contribute in to the Games. We have been working really hard... with the time given.”

Fa'aso'otauloa said they were flexible in their approach to this unique opportunity.
“We see that if we don’t make changes then the system would not be a success. I hope this could be a showcase to the whole of Samoa and what is available here - that we can produce this kind of system that is used internationally.”
According to the Accreditation Officer from the Pacific Games Office, Matthew Iakopo, working together with the team from SkyEye has been an eye-opening experience.
“Samoa is climbing up the ladder and the process for accreditation has been a learning curve for everyone.
"We have students from the National University of Samoa and to be involved on an international level and gaining the experience first-hand is something they won't forget.”
Part of the sponsorship also involves a vehicle tracking system for the buses used during the Games.
“When we approached the Pacific Games team, really it was to lend assistance as the Government and the Prime Minister said that this is an opportunity for local people and local companies to lend a hand and put our best foot forward.”
